Fixing Chartres Cathedral*

Although Chartres Cathedral is considered iconic by many, there are those of us who consider it fundamentally flawed, especially when viewed from the west...toward its principal facade. The problem is that the two spires, one Gothic, the other Romanesque, do not match. Actually, they clash...much as the Baroque of the church interior clashes with its Gothic surroundings. See illustration below.

Unsettling, no? Even a deal-breaker, some would say

























Through the miracle of artificial intelligence, however, we can fix this problem, introducing patriotism as well as harmony as important new features of the grand old structure. Thus...
